We Can Do Better Las Vegas!
I am pleased to announce that I’ll be running for the Las Vegas City Council in Ward 2 this June.
There are many issues facing our community that have to be addressed. Quality of life, crime, public safety, water, The Badlands, education, homelessness and drugs top the list.
Economic development is essential. We can’t always turn to the casinos to do the heavy lifting so a strong effort to promote our advantages to make Nevada a viable and diverse business center is necessary.
Finding clean manufacturing, high tech and service companies to locate or relocate to Las Vegas will be a top priority. Also, having been a small business owner I understand that we cannot forget about their importance. Government red tape can be a burden for many mom and pop operations and finding ways to reduce oppressive rules and regulations should be reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
Cornerstone issues like the everyday housekeeping chores of running a city cannot be overlooked. Traffic control signs need to be spruced up; many street and crosswalk stripes could use a fresh coat of paint; traffic lights at high volume intersections need to be installed and trees need to be trimmed so drivers can see stop signs. Residential speeding is also a problem in many family neighborhoods’ and potholes need to be repaired promptly.
As your Council Person, I would work with the Regional Transportation Commission to extend the public bus system beyond the 215 on the West side of town.
Empty promises are not my style. While I can’t guarantee that I can solve all problems, I do promise that I will listen to residents’ concerns and treat them with the courtesy and respect they deserve.
Being elected to the City Council will not be a stepping stone for me as there are no ambitions for higher office beyond the city limits. I have no interest in using this office for business opportunities or to seek favors for or from special interest groups. I assure you, I am a political outsider and neither a professional politician nor a perpetual candidate. By the way, I’ll be a hardcore advocate for SENIOR CITIZENS at City Hall because I’m one too!
Hopefully you will consider me to be your representative at City Hall.
I would be grateful for your vote.
We can do better, when we work together.
